Lewis County Department of Motor Vehicles will begin a pilot program with extended hours effective immediately. New office hours will be 7:30 am until 4:30 pm, with computer hours ending at 3:30 pm. Warmer weather is just around the corner, we hope that customers will take advantage of the new hours and do their DMV business locally. When registering locally, 12.7% of each transaction stays in Lewis County, this revenue helps to keep our taxes lower. Although it may seem to be more convenient to register online, the revenue from the transaction then goes directly to the State of New York. Customers may also take advantage of our two drop boxes. One of which is located by the front door of the DMV building at 7049 State Route 12, Lowville and the other by the front door of the Courthouse at 7660 N State St., Lowville. When mailing a registration by using the pink return envelope received with the registration renewal, we ask that you sign the back of the renewal and use the local DMV mailing address of Lewis County Clerk, Attention: DMV, PO Box 232, Lowville NY 13367. As always, any questions that customers have may be directed to our local DMV office at (315) 376-5331.
