Community Visioning Workshop Series
Meaningful public involvement at the onset of the planning process is essential as it lays the foundation for the entire planning process. Visioning in its simplest form is a process by which a community, in this case Lewis County, defines the future it wants based upon core community values and desired changes. When managed correctly, the visioning process is a powerful tool allowing for the constructive sharing of ideas and concerns and the development of a cooperative sense of ownership for the future condition of the community. Our team's approach focuses on defining community assets and opportunities, keeping the visioning process positive. This approach allows participants to view their community from a desired end state twenty years in the future. This desired end state will result in a vision statement that is based upon consensus.
The project team will facilitate a series of three community visioning workshops in Lewis County. We will begin each workshop with a presentation of the purpose of the Lewis County Comprehensive Plan project, overall timeline and future participation opportunities. The project team will utilize a series of interactive exercises to constructively gather information that will define the future vision statement. Depending upon attendance, we may break out into working groups, allowing for greater interaction and understanding of individual ideas.
Utilizing this website, the project team will also provide an online community visioning exercise. This simple exercise will ask a series of questions that will define core values and goals for Lewis County.
